If an LED bulb is poorly designed or installed incorrectly, it can scatter light and create glare for oncoming traffic. That doesn’t just annoy other drivers — it actually reduces your usable visibility too.
That’s why proper alignment matters.

The easiest way to tell is by looking at the light output and housing style.
- Halogen headlights produce a warm, slightly yellow light and use reflective housings with replaceable bulbs.
- Factory LED headlights produce a bright white light and typically have projector lenses or LED light strips integrated into the housing.
If your trim is LT, LTZ, High Country or ZR2 you likely already have LED headlights and the Ironbeam series will not be compatible.

If your truck came with factory LED headlamps, it does not use traditional halogen bulbs — meaning you cannot install standard LED replacement bulbs.
On most 2020–present HD trucks like the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD, this typically includes:
- LT (with LED package)
- LTZ
- High Country
- ZR2
- Certain special editions
These trucks use sealed LED assemblies instead of removable halogen bulbs.
If your truck came with halogen headlights from the factory (common on WT and Custom trims), you can upgrade to LED bulbs.
